Ethereum’s inventor and co-founder Vitalik Buterin now a Montenegrin citizen.

During beginning of April’s “Future Now!” panel discussion, Minister of Finance and Social Welfare Milojko Spajic rewarded Vitalik Buterin with the Montenegrin citizenship and had the passport ready few days later to be given in front of the press.

While the Montenegro doesn’t recognize digital currencies in its legal system, the country is paving the way to transform its economy and be less dependent of tourism.

One of the main pilar of actual’s Finance Minister is to promote and develop the country’s digitalization and especially embrace the blockchain technology.

Becoming a blockchain innovation hub is clearly the goal, and themes like smart contracts or Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO’s) are on top of the list.
