Montenegro:
The new eagle of world tourism
2022: Tourism is back to pre-Covid level, GDP per capita is almost USD 10,000.
2021: Opening of the first One&Only resort in Europe.
2019: with 2.5 million tourists, Montenegro became world's third fastest growing destination, and a GDP per capita of USD 8,900 (doubling since the independence).
2016: Investment Corporation of Dubai (sovereign fund of Dubai) bought Porto Montenegro, elected "Superyacht Marina of the Year" in 2015, from previous owners Peter Munk, Oleg Deripaska, Lord Jacob Rothschild and Bernard Arnaut.
2015: Abu Dhabi Financial Group (ADFG) bought "The Capital Plaza" in the capital Podgorica, the most exclusive commercial and residential center in the country.
2012: Opening of Aman resort in Sveti Stefan, the second Aman to be opened in Europe at that time.
2006: the first year of Montenegrin independence saw 378,000 tourists visiting the country, and a GDP per capita of USD 4,400
